Demon Dentist (written and illustrated by David Walliams)

By Bethany Doran 5G

David Walliams is a children's book author and an actor. He has written 11 novels and 4 picture books. His novels are aimed at 10+. He has starred in 'Little Britain', 'Big School' and he is a stand up comedian. One of my favourite books he has written is 'Demon Dentist'.

Demon Dentist is about a 13-year old boy named Alfie. He lives with his dad in a bungalow and attends school where he is the second shortest kid. Being 13 means that candy is everything. Alfie hates the dentist from past experiences. One day a new dentist arrives in town, dressed in white. Mayhem starts as Alfie tries to save his town from the Demon Dentist.

I think Demon Dentist is a real page turner. It is humorous, thrilling and mysterious. I think that this book is suited for ages 8+. I enjoyed this book so much that I rate it an 8 out of 10.

The 91-storey Treehouse (written by Andy Griffiths and illustrated by Terry Denton.

By Taliesha Beck 6G

The 91-storey Treehouse is a top five book for me. It is a great book about two boys named Andy and Terry. I recommend this book for Years 4 to 6.
The Simple Things (written by Bill Condon).

By Ebony Holmes 5/6Y

The Simple Things is a very interesting page-turner. It is about a little boy, Stephen who visits his stubborn great aunt, and finds out that she has a soft, gentle side. He meets many people and has lots of adventures along the way.

The characters in The Simple Things are very interesting and easy to relate to. Old relatives are hard to make conversation with right? This feeling is very common in The Simple Things. I love how every character, in this book, has something strange about them.

I would recommend this book for ages, 6-12. It is an easy-reader but also a chapter book. I give this book a 5 out of 5-star rating, with its amazing language and its engaging words.
